Maeengan of the North!

Hello everybody,

Just spent that past 5 days in Canada's northland bush, otherwise known as the Canadian Shield. I was sub-contracted to do an assessment of a fishing outpost camp. I was to do an inventory of what the camp had in terms of equipment and the status of the grounds.

I made my way to Red Lake Ontario, where I stayed at the Red Lake Inn. The building is made of wood, and it looks a hundred years old. As soon as you walk into the lobby, you are greeted by a moose head hanging from the wall. I looked about to see if there were any flying squirrels.

The next day, I hoped on a bush plane and sped off to the northland.

The camp that I was at had four log cabins, a fish house (a place where fishermen clean their fish), two sheds, and three out houses. There were also seven boats with three motor engines. You had to bring your own food, (preferably dry, so it won't go bad), and anythings else needed to survive in the wilderness.

When I arrived, our American guests were already there. They are pretty happy, as long as they had propane for the stoves, a roof over their head, and a boat and motor. We pretty much, stayed clear away from each other, but we also spent time together. We shared a fire pit for cooking, food, and conversation.

On my last evening, I was sitting on the dock. I had a Cuban cigar and drink. The stars were shining and sparkling along with the Northern Lights dancing in the sky. You could see the lake mirroring the night sky.

I was enjoying the moment away from the bright lights, city lights. I was alone with clarity of thought.

Along came an American, staggering abit from booze.

"Wadda you think of the war in Iraq?!?!"

I'm like thinking, 'Geez! What a question to ask.'

Didn't say much, but other then that it was a good trip.

I hope to put up some photos.

Talk to you later!
