Walking Together

I was thinking
do you want
to walk
the Earth
together?

We’d have to
make sure
we have
good shoes

Enough water
to drink
along
the way

And, food
to last
the journey

I’d like
to walk
down a
dirt trail
snaking
back and forth
beside
a lake

So, when
the sun
smiles on our backs

we will
sink below
the water line
refreshed
to continue
walking

I know a place
I want
to share
with you
that you
have never
been to
before
with me

It’s going
to take
the day
to walk there

I’d be happy
to listen
to you
teaching me
about the plants
roots
along the
path

I’d be happy
to share with you
stories
taught
to me

So, that
when we reach
our destination

I know who you are
and you know
who I am

As the sun sets
and you are warm
nestled
within my arms
as we disappear
into the stars
above the Earth

Rain Drops

Rain drops
floating
soft rhythm
drumming

Lips connecting
melancholy embrace

Leaves unfolding
digging
deep roots

I stand alone
though summer drought
knowing
rain will fall again
